Their funk-fuelled repertoire is wildly eclectic, ranging from New Orleans inspired swing to heavy rock riffs, and since their beginnings in the ratty alleyways of London’s Soho, the band has evolved into a wild groove machine.

Musically inspired by bands from the British invasion of the 60s and artists such as Tom Waits, Blur, Randy Newman and Queens Of The Stone Age, and with lyrics influenced by 20th Century American Literature, specifically the Beat Generation and Gonzo journalism, Tankus defy categorisation.

Their hair-raising show, like no other, has to be seen and heard to be believed. Like a psychedelic, rock n roll octopus – only with four more legs.

DIE TWICE

Formed in Exeter several years ago, and barely out of their teens, the band have already built themselves up a dedicated fan base through their ambitious sound which sets them apart from most of the UK guitar scene at the moment. Channelling everything from Jeff Buckley to Zeppelin to Math Rock, the band’s soaring alt-rock sound melds poetic lyrics with duelling guitars and a punk rock spirit that runs through every track.

Live, they are a force to be reckoned with. Already established in their hometown (having sold out the 500 capacity Phoenix), they have spent the summer bringing the kinetic live shows to the rest of the country, with a headline tour and festival appearances throughout the summer including Boardmasters, Wilderness, Rock Oyster and Sign of the Times.

Their tour coincides with the release of their 5 track EP ‘A Beautiful Thing’. Released on 7 November, the EP features the previously released singles ‘Paris’, ‘Evelyn’ and ‘The Art of Dying’, as well as two brand new songs, MODEL and Eventually, to add to their arsenal of emotionally powerful alt-rock.

With fans at BBC Introducing including Jess Iszatt and Dan Pascoe (with whom they recently recorded a live acoustic session), as well as support from Radio X’s John Kennedy, they’re already making headway in the wider UK scene, and with ‘A Beautiful Thing’ they look on the brink of really making waves.

MIKE DENNIS

Mike Dennis is a classically-trained violinist whose boyhood love of Run DMC, Beastie Boys and Gangstarr led him to create a unique kind of string-heavy hip hop music he half-seriously refers to as Violinica.  “Violin in hand and a multitude of effects and loop pedals at his feet, he builds up to a string and percussion crescendo before opening his mouth and… wow! This guy doesn’t just spit rhymes, they just cascade out at a speed that is as ferocious as his lyrics.” - Wake The Deaf (Ben Gallivan) Performing using Jess (violin), a loop pedal and a cajon, Mike builds up layers of dense harmony and embellishes with thoughtful, energetic rhymes drawing inspiration from daily British life and the perils and profits of love with a geeky fanaticism for rhythm-bending and syncopation.

You won’t have seen an artist like this before.

Mariachi El Pinche Gringo

We are a 12 piece mariachi style cover band based in London, unlike anything you've ever seen. We play raucous renditions of absolute bangers with unbelievable passion, questionable skill and absolute ridiculousness.

"It was during the Mariachi El Pinche Gringo set I experienced an overwhelming wave of pure and true joy. Once the gig had finished, I crawled outside into the cool air and burst into tears of utter happiness - exclaiming that it was all just so beautifully silly."

THE VELVET HANDS

“Bolshy, brash garage punk rabble-rousers somewhere between the attitude of early Cribs or Libertines colliding with the death or glory of the Clash”
- GodsintheTVZine
